Eine sehr besondere und wichtige kytherianische Tradition ist die \u2018Gira\u2019, die Prozesion der Ikone der Panagia Myrtidiotissa. Sie begann am Montag, dem Tag nach dem griechisch-orthodoxen Osterfest. Die Ikone befindet sich w\u00e4hrend der Fastenzeit in der Bischofskirche \u2019Estavromenos\u2019 (der Gekreuzigte) in Chora. Man tr\u00e4gt die Ikone in Prozessionen durch alle D\u00f6rfer der Insel. Am Sonntag, dem 30. April kehrt die Ikone zur\u00fcck ins Kloster Myrtidiotissa, wo sie bis zum Beginn der Fastenzeit n\u00e4chstes Jahr verbleibt.
