Am Sonntag feiern wir die Vereinigung der Ionischen Inseln (die Eptanissa), zu denen Kythira geh\u00f6rt, mit dem griechischen Staat. Am 21. Mai 1864 schenkten die Engl\u00e4nder, die seit 1809 Befehlsgewalt \u00fcber die Eptanissa hatten, die Inseln dem neuen griechischen K\u00f6nig George I.<\/p>\n

An diesem Festtag findet in der Estavromenos-Kirche in Chora ein besonderer Gottesdienst statt. Danach wird ein Kranz auf dem Dorfplatz von Chora niedergelegt und Reden werden gehalten. Die Blaskapelle von Potamos spielt unter anderem die griechische Nationalhymne und Schulkinder f\u00fchren traditionelle kytherianische T\u00e4nze auf.
