Jedes Jahr wird am 12. Mai auf Kythira des Todestags von Osios Theodoros, dem Schutzpatron der Insel, gedacht. Es ist ein lokaler Festtag, der dem kleinen Kloster Agios Theodoros im S\u00fcden von Potamos viele Besucher beschert.
\nDer heilige Theodoros wurde am Ende des 9. Jh. geboren, in Koroni \u2013 auf dem Peloponnes. Er war ein sehr gottesf\u00fcrchtiger Mann, der nach einem Besuch in Rom und in einem Kloster in Monemvasia beschloss, sein Leben auf dem verlassenen Kythira in aller Einsamkeit Gott zu weihen. Er zog sich in ein fr\u00fchchristliches Kirchlein zur\u00fcck, das f\u00fcr die Heiligen Sergius und Bacchus gebaut worden war und dort stand, wo sich heute das Kloster befindet.
\nHier starb er am 12. Mai 922. Sein Grab befindet sich in der Kirche. Gem\u00e4ss jahrhundertealter Tradition werden die Reliquien von Osios Theodoros nach der Hochmesse am 12. Mai in einer Prozession \u00fcber das Klosterterrain getragen. Ein sehr besonderes und farbenfrohes Ereignis! Sollten Sie am 12. Mai auf Kythira sein, vergessen Sie nicht zum Kloster zu gehen, um an der Messe und der Prozession teilzunehmen.
