Im ehemaligen Bankgeb\u00e4ude auf dem Dorfplatz von Potamos gibt es eine interessante Dauerausstellung \u00fcber den mittlerweile weltber\u00fchmten Antikythira Mechanismus zu sehen.<\/p>\n

Der Antikythira Mechanismus ist ein einmaliges Objekt aus dem zweiten Jahrhundert vor Christus. Es ist das \u00e4lteste erhaltene mechanische Objekt mit Zahnr\u00e4dern. Dieser in der Tat analoge Computer wurde entworfen, um den Stand der Sonne, des Mondes und diverser Planeten vorauszusagen. Moderne Wissenschaftler waren und sind noch immer verbl\u00fcfft von der Pr\u00e4zision der Fertigung dieses Mechanismus.<\/p>\n

Der Mechanismus wurde Anfang 20. Jh. von Schwammtauchern auf dem Meeresboden vor Antikythira entdeckt. Und gut 100 Jahre sp\u00e4ter haben es Arch\u00e4ologen geborgen und rekonstruiert. Der originale Mechanismus wurde in die Kollektion des Arch\u00e4ologischen Museums in Athen aufgenommen. In Potamos sehen Sie eine Replik mit genauer Erkl\u00e4rung zur Funktion dieses besonderen Apparats.<\/p>\n

Die Ausstellung ist von Montag bis Freitag ge\u00f6ffnet (08.00 bis 14.00 Uhr) und gratis zug\u00e4nglich.
