Gisteren liep ik vanuit Potamos naar Mitata, de derde dagtocht van de Kythira Trektocht – een route van ruim 21 kilometer. Het weer was prachtig: schone atmosfeer en een heerlijk verwarmend zonnetje. Het plein van Mitata is het eindpunt van deze wandeling. Toen ik het hoekje om kwam bij de vervallen kerk, raakte ik verrast door het prachtig lege dorpsplein. De aanblik was bijna surrealistisch: lange schaduwen van de lantaarnpalen, de eenzame dorpsput, een zak brood bungelend aan de deur van taverne Michalis en verder alleen maar leegte en ruimte. Te mooi voor woorden. Gezeten op de balustrade en uitkijkend naar de imposante heuvel van Paleokastro genoot ik na van deze verpletterende indruk die Mitata iedere keer weer op me maakt.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
