Ontmoet de flora van Kythira in de botanische tuin van Z\u00fcrich!<\/p>\n

Kythira is een eiland van botanische superlatieven. Op het 278 km2 grote landoppervlak zijn ongeveer 1000 plantensoorten te vinden in typisch mediterrane planten habitats; zandstranden, rotskusten, ravijnvegetatie, maquis, garrigue (dat in Griekenland phrygana wordt genoemd), olijfgaarden, velden en tuinen. Alle foto\u2019s van Alexander Kocyan op deze tentoonstelling<\/a> komen uit deze habitats. Ze zijn gemaakt tijdens de mediterrane lente, die duurt van februari tot mei, het moment waarop de diversiteit aan planten lijkt te exploderen.<\/p>\n

Alexander Kocyan is een botanist en werkzaam als hoofd van het Botanisch Museum van de Universiteit van Z\u00fcrich. Als ervaren plantenonderzoeker is hij verbonden geweest aan onder andere de Universiteit van Leiden, M\u00fcnchen, Potsdam en Wenen. Hij heeft leiding gegeven aan veldwerk in diverse landen rond de Middellandse Zee en op Borneo.<\/p>\n

Sinds 1993 doet hij onderzoek naar de orchidee\u00ebn op Kythira; tijdens de jaarlijks terugkerende orchidee\u00ebnweek van Pyrgos House, is hij \u00e9\u00e9n van onze vaste begeleiders.<\/p>\n

Puur geluk is het om op te gaan in de schoonheid en diversiteit van de natuur op Kythira. Ben je met Alexander Kocyan in het veld, dan komt daar nog een andere dimensie bij.
