During the last two days, I have been guiding an Australian group around Kythira. The group is travelling all over Greece, visiting mythological sites. It is obvious that the island of Kythira, as Aphrodite’s birthplace, cannot be missed in their programme. At the end of the tour we walked from Avlemonas to Paleopoli, along the beautiful long and peaceful beach. We picked up many heart-shaped stones. The sea was calm and a gentle breeze gave us some coolness. It was a perfect afternoon. At Asprogas cliff, Aphrodite’s legend was told. Then we climbed up the cliff to see the Minoan tombs and, of course, Aphrodite’s throne. The view from this spot was the perfect conclusion to this mythological visit.
