Yesterday I walked from Potamos to Mitata. It is Kythira Walking Tour’s third day trek – a walk of more than 21 km. The weather was beautiful: a clear atmosphere and nice warm sunshine. The walk finishes at Mitata’s square. When I came around the dilapidated church, I was surprised by the completely empty village square. It was almost surreal: lampposts making long shadows , the lonely village well, a bag with bread hanging on Michalis Tavern’s door and for the rest, only emptiness and space. It was too beautiful to describe. Sitting on the railing and looking towards the impressive Paleokastro hill I silently enjoyed the overwhelming impression that Mitata always makes on me.
