Pyrgos House – Kythira Greece

From the Blog

A purple island

Day by day, Kythira turns purple. In many places, especially on the eastern side, thyme bushes are in full bloom. Also, on the western side, the delicate purple flowers are prevailing. Both the still-blooming yellow broom and the purple thyme give beautiful colour to the hilly slopes. And then there is also the heady thyme aroma that becomes more intense day by day.

The bees are very busy producing their honey. In a month’s time beekeepers will start collecting the fresh honey. This is the famous Kythirian thyme honey: pure and healthy. If you want to find out about this process, join our honey bee excursion, every Wednesday afternoon in Kokkinochorafa. Click here for our excursion program.
