28 September 2015 — Total Lunar Eclipse

A total lunar eclipse will occur during the night of September 28th 2015. The earth will be sliding slowly between the sun and the moon. The earth’s shadow will cover the moon for a while, giving it a dark reddish brown colour – also called ‘Blood Moon’.
During this so called ‘super moon’ eclipse the moon will appear larger and clearer than usual because now, it is closer to the earth. The last ‘super moon’ eclipse was in 1982 and the next one will be in 2033.
The stars above Kythira are normally bright and clear so enjoy this unusual natural phenomenon during the night of Sunday to Monday.
