Carnival

This weekend all attention is focused on the carnival! To get in the mood, Friday evening there is a Carnival Ball in Agia Pelagia. The traditional parade will be on Sunday at midday (12 am), in Potamos. Afterwards, high school children will dance the colourful ‘gaitanaki’ and then the Potamos dance group will start an energetic session of dancing for everyone to join in.

Monday, it is Kathara Deftera – Clean or Lent Monday – the start of 7 weeks of the lent period. Traditionally on Kathara Deftera the Greeks eat molluscs (squid and octopus), taramosalad and halvas.

To stay in the carnival mood: our weekly Winter Sunday Walk will be on Lent Monday, February 27th. The program is:

Potamos – Logothetianika – Kousounari – Foinikies – Lykodimou (with a nice picnic on the beach – bring your own lent food and we will have a great time!)

Start: 1 pm

Meeting point: town square Potamos

Return to Potamos will be by car
